BIOGRAPHY

MAYBE IT'S RENO is Bridget Cross' new band. On tracks one through seven, Bridget is joined by her UNREST bandmates Phil Krauth and Mark Robinson. It's almost like an Unrest reunion. Tracks eight through ten were recorded by George Kuhar (Basin Street) in Austin, Texas.

BRIDGET CROSS' résumé reads like a best-of Washington, D.C. indierock. She was the original singer and a founding member of VELOCITY GIRL from 1989 to 1990 and sang their debut hit "I Don't Care If You Go" on the Slumberland label. After leaving Velocity Girl, she signed up with another DC indie staple, UNREST, on bass guitar and vocals. The band soared soon after her arrival with their well-received Imperial f.f.r.r. album. It piqued the ear of UK label 4AD's Ivo Watts-Russell who quickly signed them up for their follow-up "Isabel" EP and Perfect Teeth LP. AIR MIAMI (again with Mark Robinson) followed along a similar indie-pop path and continued her relationship with the 4AD label. Their Me Me Me album was produced by Guy Fixsen (My Bloody Valentine). Air Miami also featured Mike Fellows (RITES OF SPRING, MIGHTY FLASHLIGHT, HAPPY-GO-LICKY) on drums. Later, Bridget teamed up with Kathi Wilcox (BIKINI KILL) and Doug Bailey (THE ROPERS) for a recording session (recorded by FUGAZI/RITES OF SPRING's Guy Picciotto). The result was the single "Love Will Rule Our Party." There was also an unreleased session of five tracks by Cross, Wilcox, Picciotto, and Brendan Candy (also FUGAZI/RITES OF SPRING) under the name THE PIGEONS. Wilcox and Cross later recorded another song ("The Garden") under the name PANAX with Trevor Kampmann (hollAnd). In 2001, Bridget provided background vocals for FUGAZI's The Argument album.

She was born and raised by FBI-employed parents in suburban Riverdale, Maryland ( just outside Washington, D.C.) After her time with Velocity Girl, Unrest, and Air Miami, she is now a yoga instructor in Juneau, Alaska. The photographs on the CD artwork were taken by Bridget (and her aunt, Luella) at Tongass National Forest in Alaska.

PHIL KRAUTH (drums, mellotron) co-founded Unrest with Mark Robinson, has also played with Tone, Air Miami, and recorded many solo albums under his own name. He also teaches English to high school students.

GEORGE KUHAR (producer, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals, tracks 8 and 9) co-founded BASIN STREET, a high energy rock & roll band that toured the southwest & west coast. The band played their final show in 2006 where upon George ventured to Juneau, Alaska & met Bridget. She came to Austin, Texas & recorded the final three tracks of the album with George and Jordan. George now resides with Bridget in Juneau.

MARK ROBINSON (producer, guitar, rhodes) answered the telephone while doing his radio show at WMUC-FM (at the University of Maryland). The voice on the other end was Bridget Cross and thus a friendship began. Mark founded the bands Unrest, Air Miami, Grenadine, Flin Flon, Cotton Candy, and also the number one Teenbeat record label.

JORDAN STRUDEL (drums, tracks 8 and 9) met George Kuhar in middle school algebra class and co-founded Basin Street. Today Jordan is a highly sought after drummer and plays with several bands in Austin.
